Welcome to the full poker dictionary! In this
dictionary you will find all of the
explanations, and al the meanings of poker. If
you don' t know all of the terms, or just want
to rich your knowledge - you are in the right
place. In this dictionary there are 97 poker
definitions that you can learn. Pay
attention that there are number of
pages to this dictionary - don't forget to check
all pages, for not missing definitions. For your
comfortable, the dictionary is in ABC order.
All In - When you are out of chips in the
middle of a hand, but you don't want to fold,
actually you are “All In”. i.e. The hand can
continue between the players that has chips and
they open a new pot. The game will divide to 2
hands, the first is between all the players, and
the second is only between those that entered
chips to the second pot. In case your hand is
the winning one, you will only win the money
gathered in the first pot. In case of
disconnection from the server, the system will
mark that you are “all in”.
Avatar - a picture that represents you in
the gambling zone. You can choose the picture at
registration, and of course change it whenever
you want.
Away From Table - in tournaments you
can't sit out. But what you can do is to be away
from table. It means actually that you turn
isn't passed when dealing, and you will have to
need to deposit the blinds in your turn, and
then fold if there is a raise before or after
the flop. If you are participating in a
tournament and you need some time or in case you
are disconnected, the system will mark you as
Away From Table.
Bad Beat - when a very good poker player
when he is actually the favorite to win, loses
to a starting player that is actually the
underdog.
Bet The Pot - this term is used on games
that the pot is limited or in case that the bet
equals the amount in the pot. For example: if
there are 270$ in the pot and your bet is in
270$ so you bet the pot.
Big Blind - In games that there is a use
of blinds, the big blind is twice the small
blind. For example in a game that the blinds are
5$/10$, the big blind is of 10$ and the second
player to the left of the dealer has to place it
before dealing cards.
Blind - the minimum first bet. There are
2 kinds of blinds, small and big blind. The
blind is compelling and moves around between the
players.
Board - the shared cards that are on the
table in texas hold'em, those that everybody can
see.
Buddy list - you can add people to your
buddy list, with their confirmations of course.
That's how you can know where they are playing
and of course join them and play with who you
like to play.
Burn - in poker games it's acceptable to
“burn” (take out from the game) the first card
in the deck each time a dealing round starts, to
prevent cheating possibilities. On on-line poker
it's impossible to cheat and therefore there is
no need to burn cards.
Button - a black disk that called the
button actually point out who is the dealer in
the game. Using the button is only in games that
there is importance for the place of the
players.
Buy In - in all the tables there is a
minimum buy in, when usually the minimum is 10
times the minimum for a bet in the table. In
certain tables the minimum can be higher. The
minimum amount is called Buy In. the amount of
money that you are sitting with in the table.
Call - when a player equals the bet of
another player, it's called Call.
Cap - the last permitted raise is called
Cap. In Victor Chandler 3 raises are allowed and
therefore the third raise is the Cap.
Check - if no one placed a bet before
you, and you also don't want to place a bet -
the term for it is Check. Of course you can
check only if no bet was placed.
Client - it's the term for the program
you are connecting through Victor Chandler's
servers to the different poker rooms, the
program you downloaded and installed in your PC.
Collusion - an attempt to cheat by two or
more members, by sharing information, Victor
Chandler's poker is following after the bets and
don't allow of course those attempts, so you are
safe.
Community cards - those are the cards
shown to all the participates in the game. Those
cards will always be in Texas Hold'em and Omaha.
Dead Blind - in case you missed your
blind but you still want to get back in the game
before it's your turn to deposit the big blind,
now you need to deposit the two small blind. The
term Dead Blind doesn't count as a bet.
Dead Hand - a hand that is not
participating the game.
Down Cards - the cards that are dealt for
each player.
Drawing Dead - describes a situation
where one of the players tries to pull a card to
complete a hand while there is a hand that will
anyway win on the table.
Drop - when a player wants to quit the
game and stop playing with the hand, an equal
term to Fold.
Face Down - the cards that are dealt and
not shown to all the players.
Face up -
the cards that are dealt and shown to all the
players.
